Update: 179 Dead in South Korea Plane Crash, 2 Rescued Alive
14 Poush, Kathmandu. In a plane crash in South Korea this morning, officials have reported that 179 people have died.
Out of the 181 people on board, two women have been rescued alive. One is a crew member and the other is a passenger.
Rescuers had quickly controlled the fire and rescued them after the accident. Their treatment is currently taking place at Mokpo Hospital.
Besides them, no one else has been found alive, Yonhap News Agency quoted officials as saying.
The Jeju Air flight from Bangkok, Thailand, crashed while landing at Muan International Airport in South Korea. There were a total of 181 people on board, including 6 crew members. Two of them were from Thailand and the rest were all citizens of South Korea.
The cause of the plane crash is still unclear. However, it has been reported that the plane skidded off the runway, hit a barrier, and then caught fire.
This incident occurred at Muan International Airport in Muan County, Jeolla Province, South Korea. This airport is located about 288 kilometers southwest of the capital, Seoul.
