Tesla has recalled over 46,000 Cybertrucks due to concerns that the exterior panels may come off while driving, posing safety risks. This recall, which includes models from 2024 and 2025, aims to address issues related to the adhesive that causes the problem. Tesla will notify owners and provide free repair services. This recall is one of several recent setbacks for the company.

Tesla has recalled nearly all Cybertrucks on the road, as it has been found that the exterior panels can detach while driving, potentially resulting in safety hazards.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced on Thursday the recall of over 46,000 Cybertrucks, which are 2024 and 2025 models. This is the eighth recall for the vehicle since deliveries began at the end of 2023.

According to news agency AP, the issue relates to a stainless steel panel known as the cant rail assembly that exists between the windshield and the roof on both sides. This panel is attached using structural adhesive, which the NHTSA has found to be weakened by what it describes as 'environmental brittleness.'

If the panel loosens while the vehicle is in motion, it could pose a serious threat to other drivers, increasing the risk of an accident. Tesla will provide a free solution by replacing the adhesive with a more durable version and adding reinforcements.

Tesla became aware of this defect in early 2025 and, according to a report filed with the NHTSA, has received 151 warranty claims related to this issue. However, the company has stated that it has 'no information regarding any accidents, deaths, or injuries related to this condition,' as reported by The New York Times.

Tesla owners will be notified by mail starting May 19, and the company has assured them that they can continue to drive their Cybertrucks until they receive a service appointment for the necessary repairs.

Meanwhile, videos have gone viral on social media showing people easily removing panels from Cybertrucks by hand, leading to further criticism of the vehicle's design.
