Chitwan, Shrawan 11 — The Nepal Electricity Authority's Chanauli Distribution Center has implemented a schedule for daily 6 hours of load management in various feeders of Chitwan starting today.

According to the distribution center, load shedding is necessary to manage the situation as demand has increased significantly. According to the ongoing schedule, power supply will be cut off in the Narayani–Madi feeder from 6 AM to 9 AM and from 3 PM to 6 PM. In the Meghauli–Bijaynagar feeder, power will be available from 9 AM to 12 PM and from 6 PM to 9 PM. Similarly, in the Jagatpur–Rampur feeder, service will be suspended from 12 PM to 3 PM and from 9 PM to 12 AM.

According to the authority, the 33 kV dog conductor wire that supplies electricity from the Bharatpur-based 132/33 kV substation has a maximum capacity of only 300 amperes, hence the necessity for load management arose when demand reached 450 amperes.

The authority has mentioned that the increase in heat and lack of rain during the rice planting season has led to excessive use of electricity for irrigation, resulting in this problem. To provide a long-term solution, the construction of an alternative 33 kV transmission line through the Baseni substation was initiated in the last fiscal year.

Feeder Area First Phase Second Phase
Narayani–Madi 6 AM–9 AM 3 PM–6 PM
Meghauli–Bijaynagar 9 AM–12 PM 6 PM–9 PM
Jagatpur–Rampur 12 PM–3 PM 9 PM–12 AM
