Stock Market Closed Today

Kathmandu, Bhadra 24 — Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) has decided to suspend all securities trading for today. This decision was made after an indefinite curfew order was enforced within the Chakrapath area of Kathmandu district starting at 8:30 AM today.
Due to the curfew issued under the direction of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the District Administration Office, there was an increasing demand from trading members and investors for the suspension of trading. Accordingly, NEPSE has informed that today's trading has been suspended in accordance with Rule 21(1) of the Securities Listing and Trading Regulations, 2075.
In the background of this decision is the movement of Generation Z youth. During the protests against corruption, mismanagement, and the lavish lifestyle of leaders, 19 people were killed when police opened fire, and over 350 others were injured. Due to the intensified nature of the movement, additional curfew orders have been issued in sensitive areas.
The stock market has shown a direct impact of this movement. There has been a significant decline in the index, and uncertainty among investors has increased.
